LEADERSHIP TEAM COMPLETES FIRST AID TRAINING
Did you know there's a dedicated CPR playlist for keeping the beat on Spotify?
This was one of the many important things we learned while completing First Aid, CPR, and AED training this past month. While we're known for hard rolls, we also believe in doing everything we can to keep our training partners and members safe. In addition to this valuable training, our LŌKAHI facility will also feature a fully-stocked first aid and AED station... just in case someone gets too enthusiastic.
Facility Updates
Our facility is coming together, slowly but surely! Despite some initial setbacks and delays, our contractor team is hard at work. So far, we've installed a new plumbing system for the showers and locker rooms, completed the necessary framing and electrical work, and replaced the outdated HVAC unit to stay code compliant. And we can't forget our sign!
Over the next few weeks, we'll look forward installing a new glass vestibule, dry walling, painting, cleaning the windows, and all the small, finishing touches before we the mats go down.
Collective Spotlight
Our team brought back some hardware from a hard-fought weekend at the IBJJF Chicago Open! Back in competition, Coach Guy Rouelle won gold in the brown belt gi division. Fresh off her Pan-Am championship, Samantha Valkenhaus earned silver in both the purple belt gi and no gi. The hard work and training these two have put in over the past few months does not go unnoticed.
(PS - Samantha's shiner was not from competition, but it sounds way cooler if we say it was)
And in case you missed it…
Amazing job by Ahmed Bushra for putting this together! Can you tell which film series this is inspired by?
Hint: Assuming you're not an astrophysicist, it was probably the first time you heard the term parsecs.
